Editorial Policy
This page describes how FattyFix articles are produced, what we check, and what our limits are. It is written so you can judge how much weight to give anything you read here.
Where our information comes from
Our articles summarise guidance published by national health and liver bodies — among them the US National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, the NHS, the American Liver Foundation, and MedlinePlus — together with the clinical guidelines and review literature those bodies draw on. Every article ends with links to those standing reference pages so you can go to the source.
What we will not do
- We do not invent numbers. If we cannot attribute a figure, it does not appear. A missing statistic is better than a plausible-looking one.
- We do not claim a medical review we have not had. Our articles are not reviewed by a practising clinician, and no byline on this site implies medical credentials.
- We do not write to sell anything. We have no supplements, programmes or tests of our own, and no brand pays for placement.
- We do not promise outcomes. Where the evidence is weak, mixed or absent, we say so instead of rounding it up.
Accuracy and corrections
Health guidance changes — the renaming of NAFLD to MASLD is a recent example. Articles carry the date they were published and, where we have re-checked them, the date they were last reviewed. If you find an error, email contact@fattyfix.com. We correct the article, and where the correction is substantive we note that it was made.
How our calculators work
Each tool implements one named, published instrument and names it on the page, along with the threshold values its own literature defines. Calculations run in your browser using JavaScript; nothing you type is sent to our server, logged or stored. The tools are triage aids, not diagnoses — every one of them says so.
How we are funded
FattyFix carries advertising. Advertising is sold programmatically and advertisers have no influence over, and no advance sight of, what we publish. Where an article contains an affiliate link it is disclosed in the article itself.
The limit of all of it
Nothing on FattyFix is medical advice. We publish general information about a condition; your doctor treats you, and only they can account for your history, your other conditions and your medicines.
